Galloway woman injured in bizarre armed robbery on Old Port Republic Road

General News

AC Press

Posted: Monday, April 23, 2012 6:24 am | Updated: 2:27 pm, Mon Apr 23, 2012.

A woman was assaulted and robbed at knife-point late Sunday in Galloway Township after stopping to help what she thought was an accident victim.

The woman, 65, of Galloway, told police that she was driving home about 9:45 p.m. from an Atlantic City casino on Old Port Republic Road when she realized she was being followed by two vehicles. One of the vehicles passed her and seemed to race up the road out of her line of sight. A few moments later, the woman saw the same vehicle sideways across the road in front of her vehicle, which forced her to stop. The woman told police she saw someone “slumped” over the wheel, so she rolled down her window to ask if they needed any help.

The driver of the vehicle that was behind her then approached the woman with a stocking covering his face. He brandished a knife and ordered the woman to give him money and all of her jewelry.

The woman suffered injuries to her arm from the knife and her ears when the suspect ripped the earrings from her body.

Both vehicles fled south on Old Port Republic Road toward Route 9. The woman could not give any further description of either suspect or vehicle.

Galloway Township police declined to name the victim. The investigation is ongoing.

Soda Bottle Bombs

General News
Mullica Townwatch.
I just heard about Soda Bombs that people are placing on lawns so that when someone picks it up it explodes in a few seconds!
So if you see soda bottles hanging around, do not pick them up! Just kick it away to a safe area and watch it for a few minutes to see it if is safe to pick up and trash.
Apparently this has been around for a while but I just heard about it! I have not heard of any in Mullica but we should all be aware.
Be Safe!

Mullica Township is a place where people move to find privacy on quiet, wooded streets. Seclusion, however, can have risks.

In the case of John Kingsbury, who was found Sunday afternoon with two fatal bullet wounds at his son's Woodland Avenue home, several nearby residents said they never heard gunshots or saw suspicious people in the area.

Kingsbury, 77, had only recently moved in with his son, Glenn Kingsbury, who......Continue Reading

MULLICA TWP. -- Mullica Township Police need your help in locating an elderly man suffering from Alzheimer's, who went missing more than a day ago.

Police say Joseph Herbert, 64, was last seen around noon on Wednesday. He is described as a white man standing about 6 feet tall and weighing 140 lbs, with green eyes and gray hair. Authorities say Herbert was wearing a white and black flannel jacket, blue jeans and white tennis shoes when he was last seen. He possibly could be wearing a gray baseball cap with the word Tennessee on it, police add.

According to police, Herbert is known to take walks in town through the day, carrying a large stick. He usually does not speak but responds by shaking his head. Authorities say Herbert has no money on him but possibly could have a card with his name and contact phone number on him.

If you have any information on Herbert's whereabouts you're asked to contact the Mullica Township Police at (609) 561-7600 or dispatch at (609) 652-2037.

Make sure your wife, husband, TEENAGERS, and all you friends see this!
No sound, just watch. You will be flabbergasted.
Both men AND women should be aware of this.
It COULD have happened to anyone of us. If you notice he got away with her car,
purse, and keys without touching her.
Worst of all, she couldn't even give a description of the
person to the police (thankfully there wasn't a child in the car)
